CybernaX presents inhaled mRNA gene editing at the 5th mRNA-Based Therapeutics Summit Europe

27 January 2026 — CybernaX joined the 5th Annual mRNA-Based Therapeutics Summit Europe in Berlin, Germany, where Dr. Pengbo Guo, Chief Business Officer, presented Innovative Delivery Systems Enabling mRNA-Mediated Gene Editing in the Lung.

The talk set out why the lung remains one of the harder targets in nucleic acid medicine, and how carrier design rather than payload design is usually the limiting factor. Delivered by inhalation, a particle has to survive aerosolization, cross the mucus layer and reach the right cell type in the airway epithelium — a sequence of barriers that most systemically optimized formulations were never designed for.

Dr. Guo outlined the CybernaX approach to each of those barriers and the preclinical evidence supporting it, with an emphasis on pulmonary indications such as primary ciliary dyskinesia and cystic fibrosis, where a re-dosable inhaled editor would change what is clinically possible. Points covered included:

  • Overcoming the biological and anatomical barriers specific to the inhalation route
  • Pairing mRNA editing payloads with next-generation lipid carriers for airway cell types
  • Reading preclinical safety, efficiency and translatability signals for respiratory gene editing

The summit brought together RNA leaders from across Europe, including speakers from BioNTech, Moderna and Ethris, alongside regulators and investors working on the path to approval for mRNA medicines.
